Enjoy the healing quality of moving vibrant watercolors on wet paper. Art classes at AWE Studio will teach novice or experienced painters to access their imagination, learning to paint images emerging out of color spaces. Each class begins with Janet demonstrating a painting, followed by students painting with lots of individual instruction and class review time.

If you thought drawing faces was only for experienced artists, then you must take this class and find out how easy charcoal portraiture can be. With guidance, students will learn to draw through observation, creating tonal spaces and shading. This creates a strikingly realistic portrait with expressive feeling. Students may work from their own black and white photo or reference one of Janet's photos of famous people.

Combining Janet's unique approach of developing individual artistic style with traditional acrylic painting techniques inspires self-expression. Students create tonal spaces of color, allowing them to discover the theme for the painting. Photos may be referenced for realism.
Learn all the traditional oil painting techniques while taking advantage of Janet's unique approach to incorporating imaginative expression into the classical painting medium.
Everyone paints beautiful landscapes of pure, vibrant colors using chalk pastels layered over watercolor under painting. Students easily create impressionistic renditions from photos of landscapes. Complementary colors in under painting creates a satisfying foundation for landscape themes.

Drawing with charcoal is easy and rewarding. Students progress through a series of charcoal exercises that teach drawing skills in observation. Creating tonal spaces, shading and drawing from reality as well as the imagination.
